Job Description

Our client is seeking an experience CNC Machinist for a workshop role, based in Kalgoorlie. Full-time with an immediate start required, at a flat rate of $37.50 per hour.

The roster is a Monday to Friday roster, with overtime as required.

Reporting to the Machine Shop Supervisor, the successful candidate will produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Your responsibilities will include;
  • Program mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices.
  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces.
  • Participate and contribute to Lean activities and initiatives.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference plans, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Ensure that at all times the correct PPE is worn.
Key skills and qualifications required;
  • A relevant trade certificate.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience.
  • ISO Programming experience.
  • Computer Aided Manufacturing Software experience preferably with Mastercam or NX.
  • Experience with Machining Centres, Turning Centres and Multi-tasking centres.
  • Thorough understanding of Cutting Tool capabilities and metal removal techniques.
  • Experience designing, manufacturing and utilising fixtures and various work holding methods.
  • Thorough understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s License
  • Current Forklift Ticket.
  • Current National Police Clearance.
  • Sound Organisational and Time Management skills.
  • Sound Communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • High level of safety orientation
